 Step inside the sleek and sophisticated EAST 42 restaurant in Chengdu, a testament to modern minimalist design. Clean lines, a striking black, white, gold, and red color palette, and subtle Asian influences combine to create a truly unique dining experience. Facing the challenge of a historic building’s facade, the designers cleverly updated the windows with curved lines and slim frames, and expanded the entrance with a wavy fiberglass roof, creating a dramatic transition between inside and out. The interior boasts open, airy spaces, maximizing natural light and avoiding any sense of confinement. A curved, wavy ceiling mirrors the entrance, preserving precious ceiling height and adding a dynamic architectural element. The focal point, a curved glass staircase, along with the thoughtful layout, ensures both beauty and functionality. This project showcases how minimalist principles can be used to create a high-end, Michelin-style French restaurant that exudes modern elegance.
